— How to Sound, Look, and Lead Like the High Performer You Are —
She had the brain of a strategist, the results of a top performer—and the voice of someone you’d never notice in a room.
Emma had led billion-euro projects. She was sharp, driven, respected by her team—but she always faded into the background during key meetings. Clients overlooked her. Colleagues interrupted her. She did speak, but somehow her presence never landed.
The weird part?Â
She knew her worth—she just couldn’t seem to express it.
Until one day, we uncovered a quiet origin story.
She never was acknowledged by her father.
He admired her brilliance—but never said this out loud.
So she grew up holding her power inside, like a beautifully wrapped gift she never dared to open.
Underneath? A diamond.
But diamonds don’t shine under wraps.
That’s where the Communication Mirror came in.
A simple but confronting exercise I share with leaders who are powerful on paper, but invisible in the room.
Emma did it once. Then twice. Then again.
And slowly, she began to see herself. Not just how she felt inside—but how she actually showed up.
Week by week, she transformed.
Not because she changed who she was—but because she started revealing it.
She didn’t just lead. She looked like a leader.
Her voice carried. Her gestures matched her passion. Her presence filled the room.
Want to try it?
Here’s how the Communication Mirror works (and why it’s magic):
🎥 Step 1: Record a 5-minute video of yourself talking
Pick a topic: a recent success, your weekend, a company update—anything.
This is your raw material.
🎧 Step 2: Audio-only playback (don’t look at the screen)
Just listen.
Notice your tone. Your energy. Your pacing.
This trains your ear to hear yourself like your team hears you.
Are you expressive or flat? Fast or clear? Would you listen to you?
đź‘€ Step 3: Visual-only playback (mute the sound)
Now mute it and just watch.
How do you sit? Are you open or closed? Does your body say confident or uncomfortable?
This builds non-verbal awareness. Body language always speaks louder than words.
đź“„ Step 4: Transcribe it and read it like a script
Look for filler words: “uhm”, “so”, “like”, “you know.”
Does your message hit the same when written?
If it doesn’t read powerfully, chances are it doesn’t land powerfully either.
Then… repeat.
Practice weekly and you’ll be amazed.
You won’t just be a high performer—you’ll start to look, sound and feel like one.
Because in leadership, it’s never enough to be brilliant behind the scenes.
You have to reflect your brilliance in the room.
Love,
Laszlo
