We had beautiful weather this weekend, so we spent hours in the dunes — a magical natural reserve nearby.
I spotted a tree with roots visible above the sand — wide, strong, unexpected.

I stood there for minutes in silence before this reminder hit me:
The strongest parts of you are the ones no one sees.
Research shows a tree’s roots can spread two to four times wider than its canopy.
And 90% of them live within just 30–90 cm of soil — close to the surface, yet invisible.
It made me think: as leaders, we focus on what’s visible — performance, results, recognition.
But if our roots (our values, alignment, and emotional resilience) aren’t deeper than our canopy is wide, it’s only a matter of time before a breeze becomes a storm.
How strong are your roots?
PS: As a passionate landscape photographer, I love that I can turn moments like this into both insight and art. 😊
Love,
Laszlo
